Lawrence "Larry" J. Bauer


Formerly of Lansing, Michigan

Retired Captain Lawrence "Larry" J. Bauer, 68, of Mason, Michigan, passed away June 22, 2014.  He was born on May 24, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan to Virginia (Fox) Bauer and the late Vernon Bauer.  He later received his Master's degree from Michigan State University in Criminal Justice.  Larry served in the Lansing Police Department and retired as Captain.  He was very active as a START team member and School Safety Officer for L.P.D. 

Larry was an avid MSU Spartan fan.  In his spare time, he coached FOP Football and was active with Old New Boys.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, visiting the cottage at Coldwater Lake, and traveling.  He was also the Bocce Ball Champion of Gulf Shores, AL. 

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Michelle Bauer; father, Vernon Bauer; daughter, Theresa (Bauer) Fofana; and sister, Mary Ann (Bauer) Pierce.  Surviving to cherish his memory are his daughter, Nicole (Matt) Droscha; sons, David (Margie) Bauer, Daniel (Lisa) Bauer, and Matt (Jessica Sedlock) Bauer; grandchildren, Jennifer, Karl (Amber), Elizabeth, William, Nate, Tom, Madison, Dustin, and MacKenzie; mother, Virigina (Fox) Bauer; and brothers, Richard (Julie) Bauer and Michael (Diane) Bauer. 

A memorial service has already been held.  Those desiring may make memorial contributions to MI-Cops: Michigan Concerns of Police Survivors, P.O. Box 508, DeWitt, MI 48820.
