Freeburg, Donald A. age 90, passed away September 7, 2021. Preceded in death by wife Theresa, parents John Elis & Martha, brothers & sisters Einar, Elsie, Elvera, Evelyn, Ivar, John, Phyllis, Richard, & William. Survived by daughters Jennifer Freeburg and Jana (David) Freeburg Hecker; grandchildren Elizabeth & Joseph Hecker; many relatives, friends, and colleagues. Don graduated from South High School in Minneapolis. He served in the U.S. Army from May 1951 to April 1953, fought in the Korean War, and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in November 1951. Don earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and spent his career with American Hardware Mutual Insurance Company. He was proud to be 100% Swedish and wrote the poem "Lutefisk Lament," which was recorded by WCCO Radio's Boone & Erickson and aired during many holiday seasons. He was an avid reader and Minnesota Vikings fan. He enjoyed watching old TV shows & movies, playing cards and traveling. He loved spending time with friends & family and attending his kids' and grandkids' activities. A celebration of Don's life is to be announced.
