James Edward Robinson Obituary
JEFFERSONVILLE - Robinson, James Edward, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7. Jim, Dad, Grandpa, Uncle Jim or Big Jim as he was known, finished his race on Good Friday, March 29, 2013 surrounded by family.

He was born on December 2, 1929 in New Albany, IN, to Anna Dean Robinson and William B. Robinson. Jim had one older brother, Charles W. Robinson. All proceeded him in death.

Jim Robinson was an All State Tackle from New Albany High School. He was awarded a football scholarship to Vanderbilt University, but chose Indiana University instead.

He enlisted in the U. S. Army and served his country near the end of the Korean War Conflict. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration/Accounting from IU. Jim was a top computer salesman for General Electric. He was a life time member and past Governor of Kiwanis and a Kentucky Colonel. Jim was a former Clark County Chairman of the Republican Party. He was a delegate to the 1968 Republican National Convention. He co-founded Applied Business Systems, a computer time-sharing company and was a pioneer in the personal computer industry when he started the Computery.

Jim's greatest accomplishments were as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. He married high school sweetheart Barbara nearly 56 years ago. Jim was a loving and patient father to his children. He loved his daughter-in-law Lorie as his own, wept upon losing his son-in-law, Cary and welcomed a second son-in-law, Jim into the family ten years later. He delighted in his grandchildren Ashley and J.R.

Jim maintained many friendships. He enjoyed heading to the "New Albany Roadhouse" to watch Indiana basketball and away football games. He left lasting impressions on everyone he met - even in the worst of his illnesses. He was gracious and appreciative of the care of the many doctors, nurses and aides who tended to him.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara Lancaster Robinson, children; Cara Lea R. Willoughby, Eric D. Robinson and Mark A. Robinson, son-in-law, Jim Willoughby, daughter-in-law, Lorie K. Robinson; grandchildren, Ashley K. Robinson and James Robert (J.R.) Robinson; sister-in-law, Marjorie L. Hester; and brother-in-law, James A. Lancaster; nieces, nephews and a great host of friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. with a celebration of his life beginning at 7 p.m. Chapman's Funeral Home, Clarksville, IN.
