New Albany - Raymond O. Oyler, 86, of New Albany passed away early Friday morning in New Albany after fighting a long, hard 15 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Warsaw, Indiana to the late Ralph and Violet (Hull) Oyler. He was a longtime member of St. John's United Presbyterian Church in New Albany and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Ray was a graduate of Purdue University and a Boilermaker through and through. He was an Eagle Scout and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. His passion for playing the trumpet will always be remembered by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Faber Oyler; daughter Cynthia Campbell; sons, Stephen and Scott Oyler (Karyn); brother, Robert Lee Oyler (Delores); his grandchildren Christina Turner (Matthew), Melissa Sprigler (Thaddeus) and Lindsey Oyler; his great-granddaughter Adyson Sprigler with another on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Nell (Jenkins) Oyler.

Visitation will be at the Oak Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1846 E. Oak St.) from 2-8 PM Monday with his funeral service to be held at 6:30 PM in the Oak Street Chapel. Burial will be private on Tuesday at Crown Hill Cemetery in Centerville, Indiana. Memorial Contributions may be given to .
