T. Frank Wells Jr.

Montgomery - T. Frank Wells, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 15, 2020. He was born on June 19, 1931 to Thomas Franklin Wells, Sr. and Mildred Elizabeth Dodson Wells in Columbus, MS. Mr. Wells is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Byrd Wells of Montgomery, AL; his sister, Yvonne Wells Key of Columbus, MS; his son, Thomas F. Wells III (Angela) of Dothan, AL; his daughter, Elizabeth Wells Fritz of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren Michael Aaron Fritz, Jr., William Wells Fritz, Anna Kate Wells and Frank Wells, IV.

Frank served Baptist Health for over 30 years as the Executive Vice-President. He exemplified all that Baptist Health has come to represent, including glorifying Jesus Christ in his daily work, operating with a passion for quality care, being a good steward of the monies entrusted to the organization, and treating his co-workers with dignity and respect. He spent many hours laboring over what he loved but always found time to be there for his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church. For over 40 years, he loved spending time with his friends playing bridge, traveling to the beach with his buddies, and eating out with his supper club friends.

Frank was a wonderful husband, father, business man, and a Christian role model for many. His absence will leave a void that cannot be filled here on earth, but we will all look forward to the day when we will see him again in Heaven. There will be a private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the missions ministry of First Baptist Church.

Frank was one of the finest gentlemen with whom I have worked over 40 years. He and Jean were so welcoming and helpful to Leanne and me when we moved to Montgomery for my position at Baptist in 1988. As Senior VP of the Foundation, I had the honor of serving with Frank and observed his steady and prudent management of corporate finance. He no doubt was one the most respected and successful healthcare finance executives anywhere, leading Baptist to great levels of fiscal strength. One could gain valuable wisdom from witnessing his prudent and consistent methods. Frank always had time to share about each other's families and never forgot a name. I can still see his office in my mind, with many stacks of papers..but he always knew in an instant where anything was. A warm Christian man...professional...unforgettable. Our hearts go to to Jean and family. Thank you for being part of our life journey.

Frank was my Bible study fellowship discussion later almost 20 years ago. I later learned that he was my neighbor as well. Frank was probably the best Bible study leader that I ever learned from. I think what impressed me most was his wisdom which came from many years of experience. I soon learned why he had been trusted with such great responsibility at Baptist Hospital: he was a man of character, integrity and good judgment! I know that Frank is with the Lord now though I know his family has suffered a tremendous loss. I will always remember Frank And his life has inspired me many times over the last 20 years and I will cherish those memories that I have of him forever. His was a life well lived.
