FLORENCE - Dorothy Richie (nee Abernathy), 96, passed away on September 20, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on December 6, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Carrol Eugene and Mable Abernathy. She was a talented homemaker and retired after 25 years at Dobbs House Airline Catering, she was the Head Baker. Dorothy was a member of the Florence Christian Church, Edgewood Homemakers for more than 50 years, Redwood School, and the Red Hatters. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda Sparks (Ritsel T. Sparks, Jr.), two sisters, Joyce Bach and Lina Summerlin, and a host of extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only grandchild, Ritsel T. Sparks, III on March 2, 1999. Also, her sister, Pauline Evans, and brothers, Eugene, Russell, David and Steven Abernathy. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at Florence Christian Church, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Services will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Susan Diamond, Senior Minister officiating, special music will be shared by Leslie Marksbery. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Kenton County. Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Abernathy, Woody Richie, Gary Jett, Jim Galberaith, Ron Sparks, and Bruce Sutton. Memorials are suggested to: Redwood School, 71 Orphanage Road, Ft.
