WEHLE--Anne Franklin, of Lloyd Harbor, NY, died peacefully on April 8th at the age of 93. Born in Warsaw, IN the only child of George and Mary Franklin. Valedictorian of her class at Warsaw High School, attended DePauw University and graduated with the Class of 1943 from Vassar College with a degree in Early Childhood Development. She went on to join the staff of the childcare department of Grumman Aircraft where she met aeronautical engineer L. Brandeis Wehle who became her beloved husband of 60 years. Brand predeceased her in 2007. Anne was a devoted mother and grandmother and an active member of her community. She served on the board of directors of Planned Parenthood of Suffolk County and volunteered for other local organizations including Huntington Hospital, Family Service League, North Shore Holiday House and Old First Church. She became a nurse later in life and thoroughly enjoyed her second career caring for patients at Huntington Hospital. An avid golfer, Anne twice hit a hole-in-one in 1976 and was an active tennis and platform tennis player as well as an inveterate sun-worshipper. At the time of her death she was the senior member of the Huntington Country Club and the Lloyd Neck Bath Club. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Aboff (Michael), Susan Wehle, Jonathan Wehle and grandchildren Matthew, Susannah (Brad) and Gareth. Her son Robert predeceased her in 2011. Anne believed that hers had been a very lucky life. Throughout the arc of that life, she was a sunny and optimistic person whose kindness, warmth and generosity were felt by all those around her. Anne will deeply missed by her family and her many friends. A memorial service will be held on May 3rd at 11am at Old First Church in Huntington, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Huntington Hospital or Planned Parenthood of Hudson Peconic.
