Though I barely knew him at The Adelphi doctoral program, I was thinking about him just now. Sorry to learn of his death years ago.

The world has lost a kind, interesting and quirky man. Generous and able to think globally, Hendon affected many children in rural India through his ideas and support. My heart goes out to you, Phyllis.

Hendon we will miss you very much. I will never forget your very singular personality that made such an impression on me.

Enjoy your current state, Hendy, probably won't be too long before we meet up again; hope to find you unchanged. Love from your former brother-in-law. Gil

Brother, farewell. If there is a Bardo, you are navigating it well, if there's a Heaven you've already moved in.

Although it's been over 40 years since I had the honor of meeting Mr. Chubb in his home in New York with the flags of many nations blowing in the wind. I have never forgotten him! Condolences to AC and Oliver!

Hendon:
On a summers day in the mid-1950s, as I remember now, you nearly capsized the North Haven dingy when you stepped aboard (onto the gunnel instead of amidships) wearing city shoes, a rumpled suit and a tie at half-mast: an early display of your originality. True to yourself, in the years since you continued disregarding the conventional and, as a consequence, you have reaped the rewards of an independent spirit -- to the enjoyment and betterment of all.
Gratefully,
Steve

In 1968 when I went to work for Chubb in NYC Hendon took an interest in me when he saw me wearing a black arm band in protest to the war in Vietnam. He invited me to join him for lunch a few times that year and we bonded because of our political beliefs and interests. He also liked that I had a beard, the only one in the company at the time.
He was one of a kind and will be missed.

We have a void in Cornwall. Goodbye to one of our town's best. You're barely departed and we already miss that special wisdom.

Lighting a candle in the memory of your father. I didn't know him, but I know you, his daughter. Our hopes that his positive memories live on.

Cornwall Hollow residents will never forget Hendon. Our families purchased weekend homes in Cornwall Hollow, on the old Roberts Farm land, at the same time. Hendon was as full of life and humour as anyone I've met. I have a vivid memory of him leading "Hare and Hounds" when I was a child. The world needs more Hendons.

Hendon, my Papa, was also the chairman of the Lexington Democratic club and a peace marshal during several of the Vietnam Moratorium marches in D.C. protesting the war. He was very good at embroidery, as well. Most people who have met this amazing man will never forget him. He was much more handsome than this picture indicates. Full of chi and life. I love and miss him, and wish I could listen to his stories forever.
