PORT ORANGE, FL: On April 5, 2010, Beverly A. (Chase) McCollister, 73, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away.
Beverly was born and raised in Newark, Ohio, the daughter of the late Willis and Edna Chase. She graduated from Newark High School and earned a B.S. degree in Education from Capital University (Columbus). She later received her Masters in Education from Nova University. She taught elementary school for many years in Ohio and Florida. She was a respected organist at several churches throughout her life. Three years ago, she was invited to present a recital in Stormthal, Germany, on one of the two remaining organs played by Johann Sebastian Bach.
She is survived by John, her husband of nearly 50 years; two daughters, Beth (Steve) Armogida of Sierra Madre, California, Amy (Bryan) McDaniel of Jacksonville; a son, Michael (Deborah) McCollister of Charlottesville, Virginia; three grandchildren, Audra, Olivia and Canon; a sister, Carol (Jack) Davis of San Antonio, Texas; five nieces and nephews; cousins; many friends; and her beloved dachshund, "Pirate."
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Halifax Humane Society, Daytona Beach, Florida and the National Children's Leukemia Foundation.
