Richard Cooper Durrette

Staunton - Richard Cooper Durrette, 91 of Staunton, Virginia passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at his residence.

He was born in Nelson County, Virginia on September 4, 1929, a son of

the late Lewis Daniel and Lee Essie (Henderson) Durrette.

He served in the United States Army, was a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church in Avon, Virginia and retired from Wayne-Tex, Inc. in Waynesboro, Virginia.

He was a member of H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group of Staunton) Motorcycle Club and was call "Derby".

His parents; first wife, Josephine (Freeman) Durrette; one son, Richard Durrette, Jr; one daughter, Annabelle Durrette; numerous brothers and sisters all preceded him in death.

Richard is survived by one daughter, Rosa Lee (Durrette) Fuller; two grandchildren, Paulette Durrette (Patrick Watt) and Louis Lee Fuller; four great grandchildren, Tiffany Davis, Keshorn Fuller, Taleejah Watt and Patrick Aston-Cooper Watt; one brother, Gilbert, Durrette, Sr.; devoted nephew, Roy H. Durrette, Jr. a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Out of an abundance of caution due to the coronavirus outbreak, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

MS. Rosa and family, so sorry about Pops. Mom and I just spoke to him a few days before this happened. He was taking his walk.
We are going to miss him dearly and seeing him on the porch. He was happy when he found out Mom was moving here and he would have another one to joke with.
May God be with with all of you at this time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
