Robert Elser Obituary

Robert J., a former longtime resident of Monroe, NY passed away peacefully Thursday, July 10, 2014 at his home on Prudence Island, Rhode Island. Bob was born May 02, 1942 in the Bronx, New York to Arnold and Ann Elser.
He was 72 years old.
Bob was a retired New York City Police Officer, a Certified Financial Planner/Investment Advisor, and an active member of the Prudence Island Volunteer Fire Department. Bob embraced life. He loved spending his time surrounded by family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid boater, fisherman, woodworker, golfer, fanatic New York Giants fan, and so much more. Whether he was enjoying one of his many hobbies or just the simple pleasures island life affords, he approached each day with an infectious enthusiasm that brought joy and happiness to those around him. He has treasured the friendships he's forged and he will be sorely missed by all.
Survivors include his wife Pauline Salis Elser of Prudence Island, R.I.; his daughters: Judy Harrington and her husband Myles of Monroe, NY, Cathy Mamola and her husband Ben of Ramsey, NJ; his sons: Robert Elser Jr. and his wife Liz of Monroe, NY, Michael Elser and his fiancé Gabrielle Washburn of Monroe, NY; his brother Arnold Elser and his wife Judy of Croton-on-Hudson, NY; seven grandchildren: Benjamin, Maggie, Myles, Peter, Maeve, Ava and Tommy; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Thursday, July 17th at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM. Friday, July 18th at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Harriman, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prudence Island Volunteer Fire Department-PIVFD, 0292 Narragansett Ave., Prudence Island, RI 02872. or Make-a-Wish of the Hudson Valley, The Wish House, 832 South Broadway, Tarrytown, NY 10591-6602.
