DESKIN, Judith

Judith Marcec (Adams) Deskin died at 4 p.m. on Friday, January 24, surrounded by her husband and children. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 29, 1942 the eldest of three children born to John and Dorothy Marcec. After earning her degree from University of Illinois, Judith moved to South Florida. There, she had a long and productive career in the Palm Beach County school system, first as a teacher, then as an assistant principal, and finally for the school board, from which she retired in 2001. A woman of remarkable energy and intelligence, Judith was known for her love of travel and of the arts. She enjoyed the opera, ballet, symphony, and theater, and had boundless enthusiasm for cultural activities. She also had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, accumulating several additional degrees and continually seeking to better her understanding of the world around her. She loved nature, and took daily walks outdoors. Most of all, she was an incredibly loving wife and mother wholly devoted to her husband and family, and spent time with her grandchildren at every opportunity. She was preceded in death by her brother James (Jim) Marcec. She is survived by her husband, William Deskin; her brother and sister-in-law John and Phyllis Marcec; her daughter and son-in-law, Kara and Allen Collins; her son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Nancy Adams; her children through marriage Julie, William (Jr.) and Christina Deskin, and Caroline Deskin and Rich Surich; and her grandchildren Ashlyn and Aidan Collins, Audrey and Madeleine Adams, Juno Deskin, Alea Campagnone, and Catherine and Samantha Deskin. A memorial will be held on Monday, January 27, from 5-8 p.m. at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home at 1112 Military Trail in Jupiter. Additionally, a service will be held in her honor at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 28, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Doctors without Borders, via www.justgive.org/judithdeskin.
