Bill graduated from Covington High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) and pursued graduate studies at Appalachian State University and Arizona State University. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 1949 he returned to Covington, Virginia to teach high school while waiting for his commission into the Army. He served as a career Army Officer for over a decade until resigning his commission to enter into the Real Estate Business with his two brothers in Newport News. Until his retirement, he and his brother, Lawrence Beamer, ran Colony Realty, Beamer Brothers and Powhatan Enterprises developing various sections of Newport News and Powhatan Secondary in Williamsburg.
Bill served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years at Stevens Memorial Baptist Church in Newport News and as a Board Member of Warwick Assembly of God in Hampton. Bill was very active in many organizations. Some of his past associations include being the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Peninsula Youth for Christ (Campus Life), an honorary life member of the National Exchange Club, International Vice President, President, Coordinator of the State Office, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Fellowship of Christian Businessmen. He served on the Newport News School Board for eight years and several other Municipal Boards and Commissions as well as a special study group appointed by a previous governor of Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie K. Beamer and Martha Ada Eads Beamer who were very inspirational in Bill's Christian Faith and his son, William "Billy" Eads Beamer II. Bill was the widower of Jacqueline Barrett Lowry Beamer of Newport News. He is survived by two daughters, Cristinia Beamer Stinespring and husband, David Owen Stinespring, of Newport News, Paula Beamer Taylor and husband, Thomas Murry Taylor, of Virginia Beach; son, Jonathan Lowry Beamer and wife, Renee Sawin Beamer of Newport News. He also leaves his four grandchildren, William "Billy" David Stinespring, Jacob Lowry Beamer, Grace Elizabeth Taylor, and Jordan Noelle Beamer and his sister, Rachel Beamer Lacks and her husband Benny Lee Lacks, Sr. of Toano and his brother Lawrence Eugene Beamer and his wife, Brenda Wade Beamer of Williamsburg, as well as many nephews and nieces.
Although Alzheimer's took him away from his family and friends many years ago, he will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He never met a stranger. A special thank you to all the wonderful ladies that have been his sitters over these past few years. You all were truly a blessing to Bill and his family.
