Alonzo (Aloy) Kaipa Kaapana
Passed away Sunday. March 15. 2015 in the Veteran's Hospital. here in Reno, NV.
Al was born May 12,1929 in Honolulu, the oldest of the four children born to Abraham and Emma Aki Kaapana. He spent his early years in Honolulu and his teen years on the island of Molokai. Al retired from the Army after 22 years of service. He was combat wounded while in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. After retirement. he worked for several years at the Golden Tee restaurant in Monterey at the Airport, before moving to Reno, NV in 1991.
Al was a very quiet person, but one you listened to when he had something to offer. He loved fishing, poker. and was an avid football fan. Left behind to cherish his memory is his best friend of 35 years. Phyllis Fisher, her son Raymond Kunz and family. seven children; Douglas. Darwin. Dean, Daniel. Dion, Dale, daughter Barbara. his half sister Mona Mederious, sister in-law Bernice (Lei) Tam, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a Memorial Mass service on Thursday. April 9th at 11 :00 AM at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church on Walker St.
