Bob Frank Mauney Obituary
Bob Frank Mauney

Nov. 8, 1924

Dec. 10, 2012

Bob was born on November 8, 1924 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Bob went into the U.S. Army for a brief time in 1942, where he served as a military policeman.

After the end of World War II he started working for a branch of Standard Oil at their blossoming research facility as a research technician. During the next 36 years he held this position researching various oil related projects that included tar sands, oil shale extraction, water and other chemical flooding projects that attempted to produce more oil from new and existing wells. There were also projects designed to produce new products from the former waste products of the refining process.

Bob worked at UNR briefly, where he discovered the medical students and the cadaver lab that they worked in, long into the night. It was then that he decided to donate his body to the Medical School at the University of Nevada. He later worked with the Job Corps program out at Stead for almost 10 years.

They had three children, Nick, Karen Kay and Randy. He enjoyed his granddaughters, Leigh and Lynne, and has had the pleasure of teasing his great-grandchildren,Kennedy, Kaleb and Kaycie.

Bob loved meeting new people and never met a stranger. Having grown up during the height of the big band and country swing era, country music was always part of his life, with his wife, his family, and his friends. He never stopped being "Tulsa Bob."

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 11 am at Walton's Sierra Chapel, 875 West Second Street, Reno.
