John Legarza passed away peacefully in his sleep of natural causes the early morning of April 25th in his home on Hayden Island, Portland Oregon.
Born to Frank and Mildred Legarza in Winnemucca Nevada in the fall of 1952. He spent his life living in northern Nevada. He owned and operated a mining and heavy equipment business from 1990 to his retirement in 2015.
John had a deep connection to Nevada and his Basque heritage. He loved being outdoors, fishing was a passionate pastime. John was a generous and caring person, father and businessman. He retired to Portland Oregon to spend time with his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his children Frank, Cody, and Jess. His sisters Florence Thacker and Jocelyn Johnson. Grandchildren Jenna, Stanley, and Josiah. Many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of his life and legacy will be held at the Martin Hotel in Winnemucca Nevada May 22nd.
