David "Dave" M. Loch, 72


Formerly of Watkins

July 27, 1940 - July 16, 2013

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley for David "Dave" M. Loch, age 72 of Crystal, formerly of Watkins, who passed away at North Memorial Hospice Unit in Minneapolis on Tuesday. Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil, OSB will officiate and burial will be with military honors at the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley and also after 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Eden Valley.

David Martin Loch was born on July 27, 1940 on the family farm in Watkins to Philip and Laura (Arnold) Loch. He attended St. John's Preparatory School from 1954 to 1957 and graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1958. He served his country from 1963 to 1965 in the Army and was honorably discharged. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in mechanical engineering and was employed by NSP/Xcel Energy until his retirement in 2003. Upon retirement Dave continued to operate the family farm with his brother Joe until his death and also owned and managed several rental properties. Dave's favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. He had a passion for farming and tending his cattle. He loved fishing especially during his trips to Alaska, was an avid reader, and enthusiastic sports fan.

Survivors include brothers and sisters, Bob (Katie) of St. Cloud, Judy of St. Cloud, Phil of Sartell, Joe of Brooklyn Center, Cathy (Joe) Bengtson of Avon, Alan of Watkins, Louise of St. Cloud, and Mark (Joan) of St. Joseph; 16 nieces and nephews; and 17 great nieces and great nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; sister, Marie; and nephew, Bobby.

The family would like to thank the staff at the North Memorial Medical Center Hospice for their kindness and excellent care.
