Frank Pickard, Jr., age 84, St. Cloud, MN, died peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Sterling Park Care Center, Waite Park, MN surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Benson Funeral Home, St. Cloud, MN and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN.

Frank was born March 11, 1928 in Enid, OK to Frank, Sr. and Sue Ann (Cunningham) Pickard. He graduated from Technical High School in 1946 and from the University of Minnesota in Business Administration and Naval ROTC in 1951. After college, Frank served for three years in the US Navy aboard the USS Sullivan during the Korean War. In 1954 he returned to St. Cloud and joined his father in business at Pickard Motor Co. Frank married Joan Erstad on August 9, 1958 in St. Cloud, MN.

Frank served on the MN Automobile Dealers Association (MADA) Board of Directors and was President in 1972-73, was a member of the St. Cloud Amateur Radio Club, St. Cloud Rotary Club and past President, and Salem Lutheran Church.

Frank had a life long passion for cars and football and had many other interests and hobbies. Over the years Frank enjoyed skiing (water and snow), gardening, ham radio and fixing, restoring and building cars, violins, boats, computers, electronics, appliances, furniture and anything else that needed fixing.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Pickard of St. Cloud, MN; sons and daughter, Steve Pickard of St. Cloud, MN; Cindy Pickard of Minneapolis, MN; and Tom Pickard of Fridley, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother.

Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army or Salem Lutheran Church for their new visitation program.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Sterling Park Nursing Home for the kind and loving care Frank received for the past 11 months.
