August 12, 1945 - November 13, 2012

Mass of Christian Burial for Michael F. Williams, 67, of Princeton, will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Princeton with Rev. Kevin Anderson officiating. Michael died on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at his home in rural Princeton in the care of, and surrounded by, his family. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud. Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00pm on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton and one hour prior to mass on Saturday at the church. Parish prayers will be 5:00pm on Friday.

Michael "Mike" F. Williams was born on August 12, 1945 in Minneapolis to Bernard "Barney" E. and June F. (Horgan) Williams. He attended St. Mary's Grade School in St. Cloud and was a 1963 graduate of St. John's Preparatory School where he was class valedictorian. Mike attended St. John's University in Collegeville and graduated with his BA in Economics and Government in 1967. While at St. John's Mike was a four year player on the golf team and additionally was the team's captain and coach his junior and senior years. In 1964 and 1965, Mike was a statistician for the Johnnie football team and has rarely missed a game since. Mike received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School in 1970, and in 1971 clerked for Minnesota State Supreme Court Justice Frank Gallager. On May 24, 1969 Mike married Toni Fischer at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. The couple moved to Princeton in 1971 where he joined Ralph Angstman, and formed the Angstman, Hanson & Williams Law Firm. The firm became Williams Law Office in 1974, where he practiced law until his retirement in the spring of 2012. Mike was proud to be admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar in 2007.

Mike was an avid photographer, taking thousands of photos before the digital age and untold numbers since. He enjoyed golfing at the Princeton Golf Club with his long-time buddies. He also enjoyed duck hunting with his family at their duck shack. He was a member and very active in the Princeton chapter of Duck's Unlimited. He was a dedicated member of Christ Our Light Catholic Church where he was active in the church choir and also as a lector and cantor. He was a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, Princeton Knights of Columbus, and past charter member of the Princeton Rotary Club and Princeton Planning Commission.

He loved to travel with his family and also loved his quiet home life in the "treetops" with his wife. Mike was always there when somebody needed him for professional or personal matters, whether family, friends, or stranger.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Toni; children, Christopher of Princeton, Erin of Ashland, OR; siblings, Thomas J. (Catherine) Williams of Sartell, Barbara M. (Curt) Johnson of Sartell, Dr. Bernard E. "Brownie" (Michelle) Williams of Sartell, Mark A. (Arlene) Williams of St. Cloud, Dr. Daniel J.(Carol) Williams of St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece, Julianne Marie.

Memorials are preferred to the Michael F. Williams Scholarship Fund at St. John's Preparatory School, or support Princeton Kinship, or plant a tree in Mike's memory. Feel free to wear your Johnnie red in honor of Mike.
