Bathe, John Jack G. John Gregory Bathe, 91, strengthened by the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away quietly and at peace, January 17, 2014 at the de Greeff Hospice House of St. Anthony's Hospital. John was preceded in death by his wife Virginia (Vaden), dear father of John Jr. (deceased), Barbara Kiebel, Michael, Susan Fronek, Stephan (Kaye) and Laura (Bill) Hutchison. He was a generous and loving father, grand-father, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend and companion. He is survived by his sister, Sister Mary Lizette (Jane) Bathe, RSM. John proudly served as a Captain in the Army Air Corp during WWII, flying P-38 and P-47 combat missions during the European Theatre Campaign, including the Battle of the Bulge. The Distinguished Flying Cross is among his many decorations and citations. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics from St. Louis University, John began his career at the Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis, Missouri. Upon retirement, John became an avid golfer, enjoying the opportunity of being a spectator at the Augusta Nationals. He traveled with his golf clubs and family, visiting friends and relatives across the country. John was a man who loved to cook, enjoyed a good martini and always had an ear for classical music. Services: He will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at approximately 11 a.m. A private family memorial to be held at Catherine's Residence, on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
