I was proud to know Jim through his service as a community member on the University of Utah Institutional Review Board. He was passionate about ensuring research at the University was designed communicated well for participants. He served for 11 years and was a go-to member for extra reviews. I am grateful for his intelligence, caring, and passion. He will be remembered and missed.

Tanya and Jim's Family...Although, it's been years I have such fond memories of Jim...his sense of humor, creativity, love of life, kindness and that special twinkle in his eyes. What a loss. With most sincere sympathy.

I have known Jim for 48 years. That picture is the quintessial Jim, that twinkle in his eyes, that grin. He was always one step ahead of everyone.
I used to try to get the best of him, come up with an idea he hadn't thought of - almost impossible. He had either thought of it or immediately pointed out a flaw I hadn't seen. He kept all of us on our toes.
For the last several years I had dinner with Jim and Tanya regularly. We explored many cuisines together. The evenings were always enjoyable and interesting.
I had been thinking of him a great deal since I last saw him, thinking of what I would like to say to him if I had the opportunity to see him again. The opportunity passed but hopefully he knows my thought, that it was a joy and privilege to have known him.
I will miss him but will never forget him.
