Wesley Clark Obituary
Wesley Dale Clark, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed peacefully into Eternal Life on March 29, 2013, at age 95. He was born in Vinton County, Ohio, on August 5, 1917, to James Franklin and Effie Anderson Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents and three older siblings, his wife of 47 years Mereda Withrow Clark, and his wife of 24 years, Peggy Smith Clark. Mr. Clark served his country during World War II in both the European and the Pacific Theaters of War, after which he resumed his civilian career with the US Air Force. He retired from the Office of Personnel and Management after 34 years. He was ordained an Elder in the Presbyterian Church at age 35 and served humbly in this capacity for the rest of his life. He was a long-time member of Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church. His guitar playing and singing brought joy to him and countless others, as did his Cessna 172. Flying was his passion, and he enjoyed it well into his 80s. He was a proud member of the Downtown Optimist Club, and his character exemplified its values. He loved all animals, most recently his little Katrina dog, Ollie. Mr. Clark will be remembered for his integrity, good cheer, kindness to all, and zest for life. He will be sorely missed. Honor him with a kindness to another. He is survived by his daughter Connie Hudson, son-in-law Gordon Hudson, grandson Mike Hudson (Dyan), granddaughter Jennifer Hudson Shealy (David) and great-grandchildren Sara Elliott, Lee Hudson and Loryn Hudson. He is survived as well by his step-daughter Nancy Weimeschkirch (Paul), step-son Jeff Smith (Gigi), step-grandsons Roy (Tammy) and David (Michael) Rudewich, Chris Mersinger, Keenan and Taylor Smith, and step great-grandchildren Hannah and Connor Rudewich. Additionally he is survived by his Ohio family Jean and Clarence Artz, Don and Julie Artz, Janet Artz, Rita and Mark Snider, Vicki and Jeff Kidd, and favorite cousin Lois Ward. The family is grateful to sweet and faithful caregiver, Mary Garcez, and to the loving staff at Azalea Cottage, Horizon Bay Memory Care. Should you wish, memorials may be sent to Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church, or to the San Antonio Humane Society. Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Tom Heger at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church, 1101 W. Woodlawn. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway.
