Ronald Gene Martin, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 70, on Friday, January 8, at his home in San Antonio, Texas.

Born November 18, 1950 in Kerrville, Ronnie was a standout athlete at Churchill High School in San Antonio, where he would go on to receive an athletic scholarship to play football for Baylor University where he would earn his Bachelor's Degree before eventually completing his Master's Degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University.

Ronnie would parlay his love for sports, and his education, by working for North East Independent School District and East Central High School as both a coach and a teacher. His passion for coaching carried over into the family as he was always quick to offer advice, and educate not only his nieces and nephews, but eventually his great-nieces and nephews, in all of their athletic endeavors, and always made sure to compliment them on their academic accomplishments. Ronnie never passed on an opportunity to "coach" and always showed genuine interest in the lives of all of his nieces and nephews.

Throughout his life, Ronnie highly enjoyed spending time at his grandparent's ranch, where he helped work cattle and spent time hunting and fishing. Fun fact about Ronnie is, despite his stature, Ronnie was known to be an incredible country western dancer. He will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality and grand sense of humor, which provided our family with laughter and dinner-table stories that will last generations.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his younger brother, Brett Martin. He is survived by his parents, Carolyn and Nolan Martin, his brother, Larry Martin (Michele), his sister, Melani Forks, two nieces, four nephews, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
