Ivan and Dottie are personal heros to me. They took my whole family of eight in many years ago when we needed help. I was only 6 then but knew Ivan was kind and funny and respected him. Over the years I have thought of him (and Dottie) many times. My condolences to Dottie and the family.

You frequently came up to me during my postlude and told me that I did I good job, but unfortunately the church couldn't pay me! I always knew you appreciated my music! Miss you, Ivan!!

Ivan was a good neighbor, when we were out in the yard he always had a quip or two when he was passing by on his daily walk. He will be missed!

Hello to Ivan's family and friends... Ivan was a 'Tang Master' A term that applied to the Commissioning Crew (providing one was qualified in submarines or obtained that while serving in USS Tang (SS-563) Just think how much courage was required to make the first dive on a brand new untired boat! Such men have made our Navy and our Nation Great!

Warm regards

Here's to a life truly well lived. My very earliest memory of Unk was from the family trip to Cousin Penny's wedding, a pretty big adventure for a 6-7 year-old kid, all the way from VT to South Portland, where Unk quickly nicknamed me Short Straw. It took me many, many years to realize he was really using this name for Cousin Holly, who was put in charge of babysitting me for the second half of the reception that day. Still makes me laugh after all these decades. That was Unk, sometimes you didn't know if you were coming or going, but it was always a fun ride! Peace and happy memories to everyone.

I'm so sorry to hear of Ivan's passing. I've always had great memories of him and Dot during our time working for York Ambulance (it's early days). It was a privilege to know and work with great people for such an important cause of bringing the best emergency medical care possible to the citizens of York and surrounding areas. I will always hold Dot & Ivan close to my heart.❤❤. Kathy ritehsemom5@gmail.com

Ivan had a marvelous knack for involving humor with his bridge playing. Often his fondness fo bidding 3NT carried the day. He'll be missed!

Ivan was great fun at the bridge table. Quick wit! Always a story. Once I told him that my father's brothers married two sisters whose last name was Witham. He asked me where they lived. I answered, Maine. He stuck out his right hand, shook mine and said, "cousin"! I laughed and laughed. We shall miss seeing him next summer when we travel to NH again. Condolences to his family. Rest in peace, Ivan, save an East-West place for us at the table in heaven!!

Ivan was always fun to be around whether it was at the bridge table or a social event. His humor was quirky but I loved it. I enjoyed being his bridge partner because no matter what kind of a hand he was delt he always played his heart out. He gets high marks for supporting the games and he'll be greatly missed at the tables.

Unkie and Nana Louise
Ivan was my favorite Uncle only I always called him "Unkie". When I was little and he was still in the Navy, he used to come visit and play his guitar for me. When I hear "Waltzing Matilda", I will always think of him. Then there were times when he would come visit me at Wilderness Farm up in Norridgewock, Maine. He always made me feel special.
He was always making a joke and had us all laughing. It might not have been so funny for Aunt Dottie sometimes, but I loved it as I did my Unkie.
I will always miss you,
love, Holly
