LaVera "Vera" Stauss

LaVera "Vera" Stauss, 91, of Kiel died Friday morning January 31, 2014 at Field of Dreams Assisted Living where she had been a resident the past year.

She was the former LaVera Magdanz, born November 5, 1922 in Waushara County, daughter of the late Henry & Leona (Hertzfeld) Magdanz.

Vera was a 1941 graduate of Waupaca High School.

After graduation she was a waitress in Evanston, IL.

On June 22, 1946 she married LeRoy "Curly" Stauss in Waupaca County.

LeRoy preceded her in death on March 17, 1989.

Vera worked at the former Graef's Economy Drug Store in Kiel for 29 years.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Kiel as well as the Ladies Aid. She also was an active member of the Kiel VFW Auxiliary and H.C. E. of Manitowoc County where she held may offices throughout the years.

Vera enjoyed playing cards, socializing, traveling and watching the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include her sister; Sylvia (Karleton) Borchardt of Menasha, brothers-in-law; August (Bernice) Suemnicht of Reedsburg, Carl (Doris) Buchholtz of Weyauwega, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, three sisters; Viona (Edwin) Biese, Elna Magdanz, Irma Buchholtz, a brother; Albert (Shirley) Magdanz, a sister-in-law; Shirley Suemnicht

Funeral services for Vera will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday February 7, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church (387 Cemetery Rd, Kiel) with the Rev. David Laabs officiating.

Burial will take place at Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, King.

Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00am until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.

Vera's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Field of Dreams and Homestead Care Center for the wonderful care and compassion she received.

Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home of Kiel is assisting the family with arrangements.
