George L. Rasberry

SHREVEPORT, LA- Graveside services for Mr. George Lamar Rasberry will be held on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport. Officiating will be Pastor Steve Gilley. Visitation will be Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. George was born on November 11, 1926 in Carthage, TX and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 19, 2013.

He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and then served in the U.S. Navy. He married Eva Catherine Fyffe on June 8, 1949 in Marshall, TX. They moved to Shreveport and he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years and retired in 1984. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church in Shreveport for over fifty years. George and Eva were married for fifty-eight years at the time of her death in March 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, and only sister.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Chris Carter of Shreveport; son, Rodney Rasberry and wife Joycelyn of Houston, TX; granddaughter, Jeannie Rasberry and grandson, Ryan Rasberry, both of Spokane, WA.

George was greatly loved by his family and brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
