Bellar, Jr.

Shreveport, LA- Monroe Lawson Bellar, Jr., 74, was born on December 16, 1938 in Detroit, MI and passed away on November 21, 2013 in Shreveport, La.

Mr. Bellar attended Alma College in Alma, MI and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Monroe also attended Michigan State University where he majored in Calculus. Mr. Bellar worked for the Ford Motor Plant in Michigan before moving to Shreveport to work as a quality control manager for the Ford Motor Plant. Mr. Bellar retired from the Ford Motor Plant and then went to work for the Gould Battery Plant in Shreveport, LA. After many years of faithful service to both, Mr. Bellar retired so he could spend more time with his beloved wife and family.

Monroe was a devout Christian and was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport. He was the former director of the Owosso, MI Jaycees. Mr. Bellar was a 45 year member of the Elks Club Lodge #122 in Shreveport. He was the past President of the River Stamp Society and a member of the Gem and Mineral Society. Mr. Bellar enjoyed spending time with his family, bowling and deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.

Mr. Bellar was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Harriet Bellar.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Monroe are his wife of 53 years, Sandra Bellar; sons, David Bellar and wife Barbra of Shreveport, La and Michael Lawson Bellar and wife Sherry of Tyler, TX; one daughter, Susan Ellen Bellar Coleman and husband John Timothy of Shreveport, La; siblings, John Bellar and wife Alice of Brights Grove, Ontario, Canada and Janice Welch of Birch Run, MI; 9 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; special cousins, Don and Nancy Svendsen of East Greenwich, RI, Don Fletcher of Chicago, IL and Phyllis and Dave Miller of Charlotte, NC. Mr. Bellar is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Guest House for all the care shown to Mr. Bellar.

The family would like to invite friends to gather with them for a visitation luncheon that will be held at Lakeview United Methodist Church, 5550 Lakeshore Drive, Shreveport, La, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.
