CAMDEN, Sr., Fred E. 82, of Springfield and South Vienna passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Villa of Springfield. He was born April 27, 1926 in Springfield the son of George W. and Lola (Reed) Camden. Fred served in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the Destroyer USS Ellyson in the Atlantic, South France and in the Pacific at Okinawa. He worked at International Harvester, Haley Trucking and retired from Wilson Freight. Fred was a Life Member of VFW Post 8673, and belonged to Eagles #397 and the Union Club. He enjoyed playing golf, working crossword puzzles and word searches, and spent a lot of time camping at Mad River Mountain. Fred also took great pleasure helping his neighbors and providing transportation for those who couldn't otherwise get out. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Fred and Margo Camden of Springfield, and Jim and Karen Camden of DeGraff; six grandchildren Jim (Maranda) Camden, Kim (Ryan) Fitch, Andy (Morgan) Camden, Joey Camden, Miranda Camden and Lance Camden; eight great grandchildren; one brother Don (Nancy) Camden of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law Peggy Hazlett (John Hendricks) of Medway and Sally Ledingham of Springfield; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Martha J. Camden in 2011; three brothers Warren, Bill and John Camden; one sister Martha Camden and his beloved dog Mindy. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 PM. in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. There will be a gathering of family and friends Saturday beginning at 4:00 PM. at the Northridge Lions Club on Derr Road.
