SAWESTER, Joseph A.
Joseph A. Sawester, 95, of Bush Avenue, Horseheads, New York, son of the late Thomas and Ursula (Ogar) Sawester. Joseph was formerly a longtime resident of Beaver Falls, PA. Joseph passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility, where he received professional care from the entire staff. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Genevieve (Jean); his son, Barry and daughter-in-law, Joan of Horseheads; his grandson Ed (Teresa), his great-grandchildren, Berkley and Nicholas of Trumansburg, NY; and his many friends, especially Donald and Janice Temple of Horseheads. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his five brothers and two sisters; along with his grandson, LCPL Michael (USMC) and Michael's mother, June. Joseph retired from Babcock & Wilcox as General Foreman in the Cold Draw Dept in 1975 with 41 years of devoted service. He had a special love for his nieces and nephews located in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California. Family and friends can call at the Barber Funeral Home, 413 S. Main St., Horseheads, NY on Thursday, December 18, 2008, from 5-8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads, on Friday, December 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. with burial to be held afterwards at Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads. In lieu of flowers, donations if so desired may be sent to the Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning, NY, 14830. The family would also like to thank Dr. Sean Stryker and the staff at Orchard Family Health Care, Horseheads, the sixth floor staff of the Chemung County Nursing Facility and the Southern Tier Hospice for their concerns and professional care for Joseph.
