On 9/22/18 after watching the final on the house that Austin was a part. When the end of the show, Kevin O'Connor came on and informed everyone of Austin's passing. That blew me away, just starting College and his life was cut short. He is in a good place and will be seen again by everyone.

I just finished watching This Old House and Kevin told of Austin's passing. With tears in my eyes, I sought out his obit online. My prayers and sympathies for his family and friends. When I saw Austin on This Old House, I knew he was a special young man. I believe he has made Heaven a more marvelous place, and now, he'll learn even more from The Carpenter of carpenters. Though it was a short life, Austin touched millions nationwide as a bright sweet young man. We are a real estate development company and can tell he was such a keen, dedicated, talented worker, he was an incredible asset to any group. His legacy on TOH will inspire countless other young people in this field, which is so very needed. He will be a bright light forever!

Like a few here, I saw Austin light up the screen on This Old House. He was so full of life and potential! When I heard of his passing at the time, I was shocked and saddened. Now, so many months later, the reruns of that season are on again, and I think I shed a tear or more every time he's on screen. My heart goes out to his family, and I hope his siblings take up the torch he held - the torch to be something great. I listed myself as as student in relation to him on this page, because in his brief life, he has shown us all something about learning, striving, and living in the moment. RIP, Austin Wilson.

My husband and I were watching TOH this morning and I'd mentioned to him about the young black man who was chosen out of hundreds of applicants to be an apprentice for the show, but had passed away. Just so happen, the show came on where Austin made his first appearance. Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family, because I know it's still hard! ❤

Videographer for LASC
Saw this show when he and the other two came to TOH to start on the front porch. Loved his enthusiasm towards the upcoming duties. My heart is hurting for the entire family at home and around this world he touched. Like me who (at 68 ) learned I have leukemia and will beat it with Gods help. God bless TOH for giving him this opportunity. RESPECTFULLY

I had not watched TOH for a while, but I was recently led to turn to the show a second time in just 2 months. Each time Austin's story was being told. For some, it is hard to understand why someone so young and who seemed to be a very good person would die so young.
When we understand that we serve a GOD of a 2nd chance and that this life is our 2nd chance, we realize that Austin, through his living, fulfilled his second chance and has now returned to GOD to receive the promise of eternal life.
May his family find comfort in GOD's WORD and peace that only GOD can give us when we trust in HIM. GOD used your son, brother as a precious jewel who touched so many lives which is evident in the names and places we see here. Thank you for sharing him with us.

I watched "This Old House" when Austin Wilson and the other 2 apprentices joined the team back in 2017. It was only late in January 2018 when the show mentioned the loss of Austin and then realized that he had passed. So very sad and such a great loss for all. However, thank you, the crew at TOH for continuing to honor and memorialize Austin in the new series.

A beautiful light on this earth.
Seeing him on TOH, you could see what a beautiful soul he was.
I cannot imagine the void he left behind for those that knew him and loved him.
May his light and legacy inspire young and old alike to find their passion for living and learning.
He was an old soul in a young body who, in his all too short life, left a beautiful legacy.

Such a mix of emotions upon hearing of Austin's passing. Along with the sadness of his passing is a joy knowing that this young man left quite a legacy. He "built" a network of strangers into adoring fans by his genuinely pleasant personality and infectious smile; his very presence made one "feel good". As an elder, I was delighted by the respectful way he interacted with his co-workers of all ages. I was looking forward to seeing all the good he would continue doing on earth in the future; but, clearly, he has accomplished what he was sent to do and has no doubt heard the words from his creator "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." Austin did in 18 years what some of us will never accomplish in quadruple those years. My condolences to his family. Thank you and thank God for sharing this shining light with us.

So sad to hear of Austins passing. Being in commercial construction for forty years I know how difficult it is to find young people that want to work the trade. Austin was destined to become a great carpenter where ever he landed. The world lost not only a potentially great young craftsman, but a wonderful young man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Your dedication and enthusiasm will help many other young build their own career. May you Rest In Peace.

My heart broke to learn that Austin had passed away. He will be remembered for his big smile and thumbs up. Why was he taken so young? Although his life was short, he was a great inspiration to all he came into contact with. We should learn to have the "Can Do" attitude Austin had.

I was absolutely floored at the end of the Generation Next's season of TOH when Kevin O'Connor announced the passing of Austin. I couldn't contain the tears...18 ... too young :( All this man wanted was to better himself in life and he never got the chance. So unfair.

I was impressed by the three young people that joined This Old House this year. I was truly upset and sad when Mr. OConnell reported on the passing of Austin Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a soft-spoken young man who should have had a very long and happy life ahead of him. I am so sad that he was taken away so early in what should have been a great life. I wish to express to his family that though I didn't know Mr. Wilson he was still a shining light at the time I saw him on TOH. Please accept my sincerest sympathy. Mr. Wilson was taken much too soon.

My prayers are with Austin and his family. I never met Austin, but I am a pretty regular viewer of "This Old House." I was quite proud that Austin was among the young apprentices featured on a major renovation project that turned out so beautifully. In fact, it was while watching the reveal and tour of the house on TV that one of the hosts made the announcement about his untimely and sudden passing. With all that is going on in our country and the world, I just wanted the family to know that their son/brother/uncle/cousin/nephew, etc. touched a great many strangers through his work. He is the kind of person we need so much more of, especially in these times. He gave me not only pride, but reinforced my faith and hope that our young people ARE learning and working hard to prepare for the future. My prayers for courage and comfort are with your entire family. Thank you for sharing Austin with the world!
