TURNER, Clifton Lloyd

Clifton Lloyd Turner, born January 1, 1921 died December 22, 2013. He was born in Hochheim, Texas and attended school in Yoakum, Texas. Clifton was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Dovie Turner; wife, Dorothy and daughter, Susan.

Survivors are grandson, Clifton Schultz; granddaughter, Debra Holland; two great grandsons, Tory and Tyler Holland.

At an early age, Clifton enlisted in 2nd Infantry Division. After his first enlistment he reenlisted in the Air Force and served in the 5th and 8th Air Force. Clifton, having served in various missions, was NCO Club manager in Barksdale, Puerto Rico and Bergstrom Air Force Bases. At the time of his retirement he was awarded the Commendation Medal for his distinguish service as the club managers. After Clifton's retirement, at age 38, he and Dorothy purchased and ran Hills Package Store. After 10 years, they sold Hills; the next career move was to build along, with his his friend Harry Hickman, Cedars Restaurant, on Hwy 360, which is now Tres Amigos. Clifton shared many special memories of time spent with friends and members of the Woods and Water Club, fishing in Canada, black bear hunting in Alaska, killing a 5 point elk, mule dear, and antelope hunting in Colorado, fishing in Caddo Lake and the best times were spent dove hunting in South Texas and Mexico. Clifton shared memories of good friends he knew as a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and as an active member of B.P.O.E., having been a member over 57 years now the High Road on Dawson.

In honor of his wishes his body was donated to the University of Texas Medical School-Houston.
