TAYLOR, Laray Owens

Remembering the life and memory of Laray Owens Taylor, who passed away on October 1, 2013 at the age of 79. A native Texan, Laray was born in San Angelo and lived in Austin. Laray served loyally in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a proud veteran and father. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and Cowboys fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darnell Taylor, father, Al Curtis Owens, mother, Pauline Taylor Broadnax, and brother, Al Curtis Owens, Jr.

He is survived by brothers, Leroy Crawford and wife Marie & Haywood Owens and wife Cleo; children: Paulette Taylor, Jeanette Taylor, Laray Owens Taylor, Jr. and wife Angelica, Dacia Benton and husband Kerwin, Angela Adams and husband Fredd; grandchildren: Aaron and Briana Taylor & Marselis, Bryson and Emery Benton, and Ameerah Howard. He is also survived by numerous other relatives. He was adored by family and friends, especially his dear and lifelong friend, James Alex and his wife Claudia.

Visitation will be held at Harrell Funeral Home in Kyle, Texas on Monday, October 7, 2013 from 6p.m. to 8p.m., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Paul Thompson. Procession to depart at 11:15 a.m. to gather at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas at 1 p.m. for the rendering of full, military honors.
