On January 6, 2021, William Richard Holthaus passed away peacefully at his home in Royal Palm Beach, Florida surrounded by his family. He was 94 years old.

Bill was born to John and Betty Holthaus on November 7, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Henry Ford Trade School and entered the United States Navy at the age of 17. Bill proudly served on the USS Shubrick and USS Duncan during World War II and the USS Sumner during the Korean War. Bill was an accomplished master plumber. He was a respected instructor in the plumbing apprentice program and retired from the City of Fort Lauderdale as chief plumbing inspector.

On December 23, 1947, Bill married Imogene Jennings, the love of his life. They were happily married for 63 years until Imogene passed away in 2010. Bill and Imogene were the loving parents of Elizabeth Ann Holthaus Coats and Patricia Marie Holthaus Zeltwanger. Bill shared a close relationship with his son-in-law, Daniel Zeltwanger. He was a generous and kind grandfather to Eric Zeltwanger, Anna Rae Zeltwanger, and Marlee Marie Prigge. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family.

Bill was well known in his community. His friends and neighbors were impressed by his endurance and independence. He walked miles every day and took pride in mowing his own yard until just before his 94th birthday. He was a real character with strong opinions and a good heart.

Due to the health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family has chosen to forego a public gathering in favor of a private memorial service. The Holthaus family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support from Bill's friends, neighbors, and extended family.
