Jane Ann Sperry

Jane Ann Sperry (83), wife of Donald B. Sperry, passed away on May 22, 2013. Born in Elyria, Ohio on May 31, 1929, Jane was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Esgar. She graduated from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, PA (1947) and continued her education studying Elementary Education at Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio, where she met the love of her life Don Sperry (who, as a graduate of The Ohio State University, was on campus to install a chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity). They married in 1952 and raised four children. After being a homemaker for many years, in 1973 she and Don started and built Sperry & Associates, Inc.

With tremendous passion and incredible humor, Jane lived life to the fullest. Family, friends, church, travel, golf and tennis were among her joys. She was a proud member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Springtime Tallahassee, and Town Club. Jane also gave generously of her time and treasures to numerous local events and organizations.

Jane is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald B. Sperry; her four children Greg Sperry (Janice), Becky Wells (Bart), Todd Sperry (Jodi), all of Tallahassee and Vicki Benton (Tony) of Crawfordville. Her grandchildren Dinee Benton, Curtis Benton (Heather), Amanda Zick (John), Clayton Wells (Amy), Elizabeth Wells, Chase Sperry, Shane Sperry and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Ruth Esgar, brother Charles, jr. and grandson Joshua Sperry.

A memorial service will be held on May 28, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary at Trinity United Methodist Church, after which the family will greet friends in Trinity's Moor Hall . The family requests donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to Alzheimer's Project at 301 E. Tharpe Street, Tallahassee, FL, 32303 or Trinity United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 1086, Tallahassee, FL, 32302.
