Wallace Lisenby Obituary
Wallace Lamar Lisenby

Wallace Lamar Lisenby, 79, passed away on November 25, 2013, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born in Hartford, Alabama, and grew up in Panama City, Florida.

Immediately following graduation from Bay County High School, Lamar joined the U. S. Air Force. He served for four years and was stationed in Denver, Colorado, Anchorage, Alaska, and Montgomery, Alabama. Following an honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant, he attended Gulf Coast Community College and graduated from Florida State University in 1961 with a degree in Political Science. Lamar retired from Monsanto Company in 1986 in Decatur, Alabama. He then became a Real Estate Broker and State-certified Residential Appraiser. Following his move back to Tallahassee in 1991, Lamar joined the firm of J. D. Salley and Associates as an appraiser until his retirement in 2011. Lamar continued to work in real estate as a Broker Associate with Lisenby Realty, Inc., the company he and his wife started in 2001. He was a member of the National Association of Realtors, Florida Realtors, and Tallahassee Board of Realtors.

Lamar was an avid fan of all Seminole sports and enjoyed attending games when he could. During his lifetime he enjoyed fishing, golfing, tennis, bowling, and softball. Most people would be surprised to know that he played a mean harmonica and enjoyed reading Zane Grey novels.

In addition to his wife, Dorrece, Lamar is survived by a daughter Pamela Ann Lisenby and a son, Wallace Neal Lisenby, both of Charlotte, North Carolina; a sister, Sue Rodman of Marietta, Georgia, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Osea and Ruby Lisenby, one sister, Mae Pearl Tucker, Kennesaw, Georgia, and two brothers, Lennon Lisenby, Augusta, Georgia, and Leon Lisenby, an infant.

The visitation and funeral service will take place Saturday, November 30th, at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM EST. Burial will take place at Shady Grove Cemetery, Grand Ridge, Florida.
