AGE: 90 • Millville

William H. Gordon, 90, of Millville, died peacefully, on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Genesis/Millville Center. Mr. Gordon was born in Glassboro. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a PFC in the 45th Division, 54th Armored Infantry Battalion. Mr. Gordon fought at Anzio on January 22, 1944. He also was present when they liberated the Dachau concentration camp in Germany, under the command of General Patton's 7th Army. After the war, Mr. Gordon was an inspector for the NJ Department of Agriculture for over 15 years. He then served as a cook for the Claridge Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City for over 10 years. Mr. Gordon was a member of the American Legion Nabb Leslie Post #82, and was an outstanding volunteer for SJ Healthcare (Inspira), where he earned his 1000 hour pin. Mr. Gordon also donated his time and efforts for the Holocaust Memorial in Washington, DC. He enjoyed travelling.

He is survived by 2 sons: Ken Bowman (Jacque) of SC and Kevin Bowman (Paula) of TX; 4 grandchildren: Ashley, Trip, Shawn and Chad; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mahala.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 AM in the Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home, where friends may call from 10 AM. Burial will follow in the Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Township. There will be an American Legion service on Friday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Written condolences may be sent to:
