RISINGSUN: Wayne Martin Collins, age 71, of Risingsun, Ohio passed away peacefully on Saturday (May 17, 2014) at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green, Ohio surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on May 12, 1943 in Wood County to the late Charles and Mamie (Eschendor) Collins. He married Barbara Lee Heberling on June 16, 1965 in Adrian, Michigan.

Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Barb; sons, Mark (Teri) Collins of Risingsun, Ohio, Stuart (Tami) Collins of Pemberville, Ohio, Danny (Ellen) Collins of Gibsonburg, Ohio; sisters, Mary Marguart of Findlay, Ohio, Lenora Perkins of Clyde, Ohio, Betty Palmerton of Risingsun, Ohio; goddaughter, Brenna Garlick; six grandsons; one granddaughter; one god granddaughter and one step-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Collins.

Wayne retired in 2010 after working 46 years for Reed Manufacturing in Bradner, Ohio. He was a 1961 graduate of Risingsun High School and served his country proudly in the Navy during the Vietnam War and currently has a grandson Gage serving aboard the U.S.S. Truman. He was a member of the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner, Ohio, Fostoria Moose, was a little league coach and Cub Scout master. He enjoyed his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers, traveling, gardening, time with his dog Prince and spending much of his free time in the outdoors.

Friends will be received from 3-5 & 6-8 PM Tuesday (May 20, 2014) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday (May 21, 2014) with Pastor Ray Drown officiating. Burial will be in Fish Cemetery near New Rochester, Ohio with military honors performed by the Albert Bowe American Legion. A bereavement luncheon will immediately follow back at the Albert Bowe American Legion Hall in Bradner.
