Just learned of David's passing today. Always loved when I got assigned to help in the CFRB Newsroom because David's quick wit, sense of humour, and his heart of gold, always lit up my day! Reading tributes from so many fellow RBer's brought back such fond memories of the special bonds shared.
Deepest condolences to all of his loved ones. RIP David. Continue to shine ... from Heaven now. New meaning of Star of David ❤

I know I am months late in sending this note, but I just noted David's passing on FB tonight. He truly was a "Great Guy" as so many have said. I knew David for about 8 years while I was at the (then) venerable CFRB doing the Garden and Farm shows. Then after I moved to Vancouver Island I used to send him occasional email messages etc. My sympathies to his family and friends.

As with many people, I had the pleasure of working with David in broadcasting. With me, it was at CJEZ. It was my first job in radio after having him as an instructor at Ryerson. Thank you David for the guidance, and for giving us "the news".

I am so very sorry to hear of David's unexpected passing. I met David and we became good friends just over 20 years ago when he was working in Cobourg. He was a wonderful man and extremely passionate about his work. He will be remembered fondly. My deepest condolences to his family. Please contact me at [email protected] regarding a Celebration of Life.

I had many fun times with David when we would meet for munchies or shared laughs on a story. He was with RB radio and I worked at CKEY when radio was King in the city. My condolences to Davids family. He was one special character I will always remember fondly.

My memories of David date back to the early 70's. Over the years he would touch base with me every few years and we would have long, deep, conversations catching up. Most recently last summer and by messenger over Thanksgiving. My condolences to the Craig family. Your dad was one of the most interesting and memorable people it was ever my privilege to know. R I P David, you had a very rough year and deserve the rest.

My dad, Sidney Closson, and myself were founding members of the Markham Concert Band. Playing in the band gave my dad such pleasure up until his passing in 1989. I am still playing in the band to this day, 40 years later, and I am so thankful to David for starting this marvellous group. He has left behind a true legacy with his musicality.

So sorry to hear about David's passing. In my more than 40 years plus in broadcasting I can say without hesitation that David was in a league by himself. He could rattle off a newscast on that old Underwood in no time flat. Each story was well written and then he would walk into the broadcast studio and deliver it with that great voice. There was nobody else even close to David in the broadcasting field. And that is to say nothing about his musical talents. My condolences to the Craig family.

I had the pleasure of working with David in two different capacities. I joined the Markham Concert Band in 1980 and I am still a member today. David was remembered today at our concert for his great work as the founder of this band. David was also the person who got me into the broadcasting industry and I enjoyed working with him for many years at CFRB. My heartfelt condolences to his loved ones. May your fond memories help to fill the void in your heart.

As a radio student at Humber College, I listened to David at 8 a.m. every morning on my way to school. Little did I know I would have the pleasure of working with David at CJEZ and later 680 News. I real pro. He will be missed.

I never met David, but I enjoy his work every day. I'm the current president of the Markham Concert Band, the group he founded in 1978, and I'm so grateful he and our other founding members made this wonderful band happen. My condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad to hear of David's untimely death. We met through our mutual work in radio many years ago. A great "voice", fun and interesting guy. Gone too soon. Best wishes to all his family, friends and colleagues who mourn his loss.

So sorry to hear about David's passing. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family. He was a true long-time friend and a patient mentor through most of my radio career dating back to our days at CKSL in London in 1972 and later our decades together at CFRB.

See attached; a bit tattered; top left corner. This how I remember David. First as a listener. Then as a mentor when I was a CFRB "Good News Reporter" in '74. Later as a co-worker for so many years. A great guy, crazy sense of humour and a friend. Fastest news writer I've ever seen !
My thoughts are with the Craig family, I am so very sorry.
With the fondest of memories; John, which he never called me, so I will sign off of as "Wheels"

Condolences to David's family at their sudden loss. May he Rest In Peace.
Like some of my colleagues who have posted, I worked with David for a number of years at CFRB and later at CJEZ, sharing a lot of stories and laughs along the way. He was a good guy, his deep melodious voice was unmistakable, and he could hammer out a news story on those typewriters faster than anyone I have known.
This sad news brings back a lot of happy memories for me and I hope similar memories will help comfort David's loved ones.

I had the pleasure of working with David in the 'RB newsroom for many years...back in the days when EVERYBODY listened to CFRB. A good guy and a real pro..one of the best in the business!! He made it all look and sound so easy...with a hall of fame delivery on air. Those two pictures bring back a lot of memories and good times. Rest in peace.

I worked in the Cfrb newsroom with David in the morning for many years. He was very kind and patient with the "new kid". Later in 1993 David called me to join the team at the new station 680News. I will always appreciate his kindness and professionalism. I am so sorry for your loss.
