Frank R. Martin, 74, of Lake Ariel, died Friday morning at Hospice Community Care in Dunmore following an illness. His wife of 38 years is the former Alice Sledzinski.

Born in Honesdale on July 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Daniel and Gertrude Sonner Martin. He was a member of the 1956 graduating class of Honesdale Catholic High School. He retired from Martin's Service Station in Honesdale, but was still active in working food concessions at local fairs, where he made many friends. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1796 in Smithfield, N.C. He was a life member of the A.M.A. and a member of St. Thomas More/St. Mary's Parish Community. He was a director and a past president of the Greene Dreher Sterling Fair. He was also a member of the P.S.S.A. Association and the I.I.S.A. in Gibsonton, Fla.

Also surviving are a niece, Mary Lasch and husband, Aaron, of Payton, Colo.; two sisters, Virginia Herzog and husband, George, of Honesdale; and Esther Griemsman of Smithfield, N.C.; a brother, Daniel Martin and wife, Joyce, of Albany, Ky.; a father-in-law, Kosteck Sledzinski of Lake Ariel; many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 305 St. Mary's Church Road, Ledgedale. Cremation will follow in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Honesdale, Wednesday at a time to be announced. Anyone attending the Mass is asked to go directly to the church Tuesday morning.

Friends may call Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel.
