Joseph F. Flannelly Obituary
Joseph F. Flannelly, Minooka section, died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife is the former Rose Marie Wassil. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage in May.

Born in Moosic, son of the late John and Elizabeth Nicholson Flannelly, he was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, educated in St. Mary's School, Avoca, and a graduate of Moosic High School. Joseph was a United States Air Force veteran, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Connolly Post, Minooka. Before retirement, he was employed by Tobyhanna Army Depot and owner/operator of Joe's Barber Shop, Minooka.

Joseph was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed. He enjoyed spending family time at the Jersey Shore, lovingly caring for his home, pool and garden, as well as swimming in his daughter's pool, family cookouts and quiet times talking with his wife and sitting on his porch.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Martin Moran, Dupont, and his staff for the kindness and care they provided to Joseph.

Also surviving are two sons, Joseph F. Flannelly Jr., Minooka section; and John J. Flannelly and wife, Sandra, Cape May, N.J.; two daughters, Lesa Karwaski and husband, Edward, Old Forge; and Marie Gordon and husband, Joseph, Quakertown; nine grandchildren, Dr. Erin Nail and husband, Chad; Jake, Drew and Kyle Flannelly, Edward and Austin Karwaski, Joseph, Connor and Jack Gordon; a great-grandchild, Owen Nail; a brother, Thomas Flannelly, Laflin; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and John Flannelly; and a sister, Catherine Flannelly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Joseph Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, pastor. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force.

Friends may pay their respects Tuesday, 8:30 to 10 a.m., at the Eagen-Hughes Funeral Home, 2908 Birney Ave.
