From 1965 until his retirement in 1991, he directed the Aguie Bible Training School. He was known for his mastery of the Hausa language and his rapport with the national people. He spent the last years of his life in the affectionate care of his daughter, Cathy, her husband Paul, and their children in Lapeer. George was a member of Griswold Street Baptist Church of Port Huron and Whispering Pines Baptist Church in Sebring, Florida. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by three children, Cathleen (Paul) Sauve of Lapeer, Carmen (Tim) North of Port Huron and Paul (Lucy) Learned of Parma; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
