I am in Pittsburgh thinking about Mr. Mason and his kind teachings in the jazz lab bands at the University Of Toledo in 1984. And his wife Frances Renzi an expert concert pianist. And the workshop with jazz trumpeter Tom Kirkpatrick in that same year. Mr. Mason Jim, is a kind beautiful person in heaven with God now. I am singing some of the songs we played then including Hay Burner and thinking of Marcos Pizza and Beer Pitchers that he bought for us on Door Street before we went to Rusty's. I didn't know he went up. I think kindly of him and ask him to tell God hello for me. I never forget him. And I wanted to talk with him today. Thank you Jim. And God Bless us from you.

Dear Frances,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss and am glad that I had the opportunity to meet James thru Betsy. I sincerely hope that the cherished memories of your life together will help to ease your sorrow.
Please forgive me for not attending his memorial but unfortunately I was unaware of his passing until yesterday.
Sincerely, Joy Roman
