MANCHESTER - Joseph A. Myers, 81, of Manchester, NH, died December 6, 2013, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, after a period of declining health.

Born in Manchester, NH on November 30, 1932, he was the son of Arthur and Eleanor (Lyons) Myers. He was a lifelong resident of the Queen City.

Mr. Myers graduated from Bishop Bradley High School. He attended New Hampshire College.

During the Korean War, he served with the United States Navy.

Until his retirement in 1990, he was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 33 years.

He was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Most recently, he was a parishioner of Saint Pius X Church.

Mr. Myers was a member of the American Legion, Henry J. Sweeney Post #2.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren as well as summers at Newfound Lake. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Family members include his wife, of fifty-seven years, Joan C. (Riley) Myers, two sons, Michael J. Myers and his wife, Kathy, of Auburn, Martin J. Myers and his wife, Suzanne, of Manchester; two daughters, Maura J. Bouchard and her husband, Dan, Megan J. Bilodeau and her husband, Kevin, all of Manchester; thirteen grandchildren; his brother, Robert Myers and his wife, Jerri, of Lakeland FL; several nieces and nephews.


SERVICES: Calling hours will be Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Connor-Healy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 537 Union St., corner of Concord St., Manchester, NH.

The funeral will be held, Wednesday, with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11:30AM in Saint Pius X Church, Candia Road, Manchester.

Burial with military honors will take place at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Little People of America, District One, 250 Elderberry Street, South Portland, ME 04109, or the Saint Pius X Church Food Pantry, 575 Candia Road, Manchester, NH 03109.
