BEDFORD - Payson B. Langley passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Hillsborough County Nursing Home.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1923 in Hartford, Conn., the son of Chester Joseph Langley and Ruth (Barber) Langley.

He was educated In West Hartford, Conn., graduating from Kingswood-Oxford School in 1941. He furthered his education at Princeton University, earning his engineering degree in an accelerated program in 1945.

His professional career of 40 years was spent with the Aetna Life Insurance Company in offices in Hartford and Bridgeport, Conn., Albany and Rochester, N.Y., Cleveland, Richmond, Va. and Boston. During his Years with Aetna, he earned the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters Designation.

He served in the Philippines in World War II and in Seoul, Korea, in the Korean War.

He was married to Louise Pool Langley of Dayton, Ohio, for 63 years, and was the father of Andrew Langley of Framingham, Mass., and Laura Langley of New Hampshire, the grandfather of Adam Nazzaro and Elijah Shanelaris.

Personally he was known for his love of family, integrity, sense of humor, expertise in fly fishing, enjoyment of music, vegetable gardening and loyalty to the Red Sox, Bruins and Patriots.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the Hillsborough County Nursing Home and Home Health and Hospice Care for their professionalism and compassion during his care.
