MANCHESTER - Sidney F. "Joe" Slack Jr. died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 26, 2014. He was born in Biddeford, Maine, on Aug. 18, 1957, the son of the late Sidney F. and Patricia (Dumont) Slack Sr. Joe grew up in Adak, Alaska, and then moved to Manchester, where he spent the rest of his life. Joe was a 1976 graduate of Manchester Memorial High School, and served in the Army National Guard for 15 years. He worked at Harvey Industries, (now Harvey Building Products) for the past 28 years, and Hannaford Supermarket for the past 10 years. His joys in life were hunting, hiking, camping and bowling at King's Lanes, but most of all he cherished time spent with his loving wife and children. What will be missed most of all is his sparkling personality and ability to tease the ones he loved the most. He was such a down to earth person and enjoyed the simplest pleasures in life and could find humor in any situation. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him, his family, friends and his in-laws. His love for us cannot be measured, and our love for him is forever.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Kaye Jordan Slack; five children, Bethany, Joey, Ken, Sarah and Sam; eight siblings, Carol, Nancy, Susan, Sharon, Jim, Debbie, Eric and Bruce; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy.
