James Wallace Miller James Wallace Miller, or Jim, as most knew him, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle, left us on November 6, 2013, to complete his journey to meet his Lord. Jim is survived by his wife Laura, of Visalia, two daughters, Patty Goodin of Visalia, Jaimie Turner of Fresno, and 1 step-daughter, Phyliss Gilbert of Visalia. Additionally, he is survived by 3 son-in-laws, Larry Goodin, Larry Turner, Danny Gilbert and 1 daughter-in-law, Wanda miller of Visalia. Jim is also survived by 18 grandchildren; Sheila Ashford of Visalia, Thad and Emmy Ashford of Visalia, Josh and Michelle Turner of Fresno, JC and Shannon Turner of Tulare, Amber Johnson of Visalia, John Jr., Loren, James and Jordan Miller of Visalia, Molly Miller of Tehachapi, Jacob Miller of Fresno, Madison Wakefield of Bakersfield, Lana Whitworth of Visalia, Glen and April Gibert of Visalia and 23 great- grandchildren. Jim is also survived by 4 sisters; Evia Rogers, Daisy Rowe, Beatrice McCarty all of Tulare, Loretta Tuggle of Visalia, and 6 brothers Elzy Miller of Templeton, Jody Miller of Los Angeles, Wiley Miller of Missouri, Johnny Miller of Colorado, Gene Miller of Arizona and Butch Miller of Tulare. Jim was born in Elk City, Oklahoma in May of 1930 and moved to this area at the age of 8. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1947 where he remained until he retired after 21 years of service. During his tenure in the armed services he traveled to many different states, as well as many countries outside the United States. He retired in 1970 and came back to the area, where he remained until his death. After he retired, Jim worked for wind machine companies, around this area, for many years and built and flew model airplanes and helicopters. In his early years, he built houses, a trade many in his family still practice today. He was a man of many talents and could do anything he was asked to do. He was a faithful member of the Visalia Community Church of Christ, where he had worshipped for the last 20 plus years. Jim was the oldest of 11 children and the first to leave to join family that went before him. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Miller, his sons little Jimmy, Jerry and John Miller, a son-in-law Jerry Ashford and his parents John Wesley Miller and Francis Lorene Miller. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on November 16, 2013 at the Visalia Community Church of Christ, 3838 S. Court Street Visalia, CA. Memorial donations can be made in his name, to the Visalia Community Church of Christ, earmarked for the Ghana West Africa Mission work. Jim will be buried in a private burial ceremony.
