Steve Bilvado 10/15/1936 - 10/11/2012 Steve Bilvado took the journey to heaven to be with his parents, Felix and Antonia Bilvado and brother Bobby Bilvado, on Thursday, October 11, 2012, surrounded by his family and his always faithful white German Shepherd Pandora. Steve was born on October 15, 1936 in Tulare, California to Felix and Antonia Bilvado. In high school, Steve excelled in Track & Field and Boxing and in 1954 enlisted in the Air Force. Steve was stationed in South Africa as a bomber and navigator, on board a B52 aircraft, and in 1958 was honorably discharged. After his military career, Steve enrolled at the College of the Sequoias and then went on to Fresno State, where he graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. Later, Steve decided to continue his education and became a teacher, coach and earned his Master Degree in Educational Administration at Northern Arizona University. Throughout his career, Steve has worked as a teacher, coach and administrator in the cities of Tulare, Salinas, Kingsburg, Orosi, Oxnard and Sanger. After retiring from the public school system Steve then began working for the Dept. of Corrections in their education department. Steve was one of the founders of the GI Forum in Tulare County, and an organizer for the Cesear Chavez march to Sacramento, and was also very involved with the Special Olympics. Steve's greatest passion was being a starter for the Track & Field/Cross County state wide meets and giving advice to his grandchildren in athletics and academics. He is survived by his wife Nita Bilvado, son Robert (Marcella) Bilvado of Las Cruces, NM, daughters Stephanie Bilvado, of Long Beach, CA, Ana (Sal) Alaniz, of Long Beach, CA, Teresa (Michael) McDaniels, of Visalia, CA, grandchildren Adrienne, Aiden, Kyle, Mikaela, Jacob, Jared, Ryliee, Maya, Emma, Ryker, and Aila and step-daughters Lyn Anderson, Visalia, CA, Laura Cuevas, Visalia, CA, and Cindy Johnson of Woodlake, CA, his brothers, Daniel Bilvado of Visalia, CA, Manuel (Sara) Bilvado of Tulare, CA, John (Cecelia) Bilvado, of Tulare ,CA, sisters Virginia (Pete) Luna and Rose (Joe) Vasquez of Clovis, CA. Irene Bly, mother of his children, Ivanhoe, CA. He will be missed dearly and will forever and always be in our hearts, souls and minds. We would like to thank Archie and the staff of Kaweah Delta Hospice Department for their continuous support and care of Steve during his difficult time. We would also like to thank the Hospice Chaplain Steven who helped us through this difficult time. Services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at 10:00am at the Apostolic Assembly of the Faith, 540 W. Kern St., Tulare, CA.
