N. David Bouley Obituary

WOONSOCKET - Rev. Deacon N. David Bouley, 68, passed away March 12, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of the city and living in the same home in the Cato Hill Historic District for over 60 years.
The son of the late Normand R. and Doris Rita (Fleury) Bouley, he was the first of six children, five boys and one girl, also including Michael of Lawrence, MA, Roger, Judith and Christopher all of Woonsocket and Kenneth of California.
He was married to the former Suzanne J. Dauphinais for 38 years; the father of three children; Elizabeth S. Brousseau (husband Michael), Catherine S. Cardin (husband Marc) and Charles David (wife Theresa); and the grandfather of five grandchildren.
He was educated at St. Jeanne D'Arc School in the Social District, before it became Our Lady of Victories School. He attended Our Lady of Providence Seminary, Woonsocket Junior High School and Woonsocket High School. He graduated from Rhode Island College in 1972 and Providence College in 1998.
He began his career in public service as a Relocation Specialist and late Relocation Officer with the Redevelopment Agency of Woonsocket. In 1976 he became Federal Grants Administrator for the Woonsocket Dept. of Planning and Development and was Dept. Director between 1986 and 1990 under Mayor Charles C. Baldelli.
In 1990 he became the Deputy Director of Planning and Community Development for the Town of Cumberland, becoming Director in 1991. He served in that capacity until 1994 when he left public service to serve as parish administrator for the newly created All Saints Parish, Woonsocket.
He served as the first chairman of the newly former Woonsocket District Districts Commission and served from 1976 to 1986 as a member of the Rhode Island Committee for the Humanities.
He was also a member of the Autumnfest Steering Committee for 6 years, President of the Kiwanis Club of Woonsocket, and appointed on the Woonsocket Harris Public Library Board of Trustees. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He served as a member of the Technical Committee of the Rhode Island Division of Statewide Planning and the Woonsocket Planning Board.
Elected to Woonsocket Democratic City Committee in 1990 and the Woonsocket City Council in 1991 and 1993, he served for a total of three and one-half years on the Council before resigning to enter the permanent diaconate program of the Diocese of Providence. He was ordained a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese by the Most Rev. Robert E. Mulvee, Bishop of Providence, on October 10, 1998. He served as deacon assistant at All Saints Catholic Community of Woonsocket; St. John the Evangelist of Slatersville and St. Teresa of the Child Jesus of Pawtucket.
More recently he served again as Director of Planning and Development under Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt.
His favorite pastime was working in his garden at his family home. In later years, he and his wife Suzanne acquired a timeshare in New Hampshire and enjoyed traveling, including to England, Scotland, Italy, Greece, much of the Eastern United States and Canada.

I hope you are doing well, the lost of love ones, is hard. They say it gets easier with time. They say memories are good, but every time I start to think, which my brain doesn't stop thinking, I cry. Lots of Love & Miss You
