Mary A. (Chronister) Grothey, 76, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Manor Care North.
Mrs. Grothey was born in York, May 13, 1940, daughter of the late Earl L. and Mildred A. (Sipe) Chronister.
She was employed by the former Weis Market, Rt. 30, and then as a cashier for Weis Market, Roosevelt Ave., retiring in 2008, after 20 years of service.
Mary was a member of the Church of the Open Door, York, and attended Harmony Grove UCC, Dover. She enjoyed her church family, family time, cooking, baking, and walks.
Survivors include three children, Robert J. Grothey and his wife, Melissa of York, Mark S. Grothey and his fiancé, Bonnie Swartz of York Springs, and Beverly J. Napier and her husband, Samuel of Seven Valleys; two grandchildren, Jennifer L. Napier and Hunter C. Grothey; and a sister, Jane C. Harrison of York. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles C. Chronister.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, December 19, 2016, at the Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Court, York. Officiating will be her Pastor of Personal Care, the Rev. Donald C. Wagner. There will be a luncheon immediately following at the church. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, at the family's request, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Court, York, PA 17408.
