Lorenza L. Ellis

Lorenza L. "Renz" Ellis, 83, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 at the York Hospital. He was the husband of Elona J. (Breier) Ellis with whom he celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on August 27, 2017.
Mr. Ellis was born in York on November 25, 1934, son of the late Levere L. and Helen M. (Smith) Ellis. Renz graduated from York High, Class of 1953, York Junior College, Class of 1955 and the University of Denver, Class of 1957. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in Germany and the U.S. Army reserve.
Renz was a licensed professional engineer and land surveyor, one of the founding members and a principal of Nutec Design Associates, Architects and Engineers, where he retired in 1999.
He was a life member of Shiloh United Church of Christ, York, where he served as an Elder and Past President on the Church consistory, life member and Past President of the Shiloh Fire Company, and the Reliance Fire Company. In addition, Renz was a life member of the Outdoor Country Club, the Viking Athletic Association, the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Lincoln Chapter and of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a member of the York East Rotary Club and served on the development committee for Habitat for Humanity.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Jennifer L. Richardson and her husband, Jack of Marietta and Janenne E. Ellis of NC; two brothers, Robert W. Ellis and his wife, Marie of Spring Grove, Dale R. Ellis and his wife, Shin of TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Shiloh United Church of Christ, 2251 Willow Road, York. Officiating will be his pastor, the Rev. Mike Beynon. Final resting place will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
